Get Up and Running With Your Prime Day Smart Home Devices

Amazon Prime Day included some good deals on smart home products that play well with Yonomi. In fact, the Echo Dot was Prime Day’s best selling product across any category. As your new devices arrive, we have some Routine suggestions to help you get the most out of your new smart home gadgets. First, make sure you have the latest version of the Yonomi app on your smartphone. It’s free for iPhone and Android.

Amazon Echo or Amazon Echo Dot

Connecting Yonomi to your Echo or Echo Dot gives you amazing voice control of your smart home. You can ask Alexa to run any of your Yonomi Routines and control individual smart home devices you have set up in Yonomi (such as your Sonos, WeMo Mr. Coffee or Apple TV via Logitech Harmony Hub). A simple “Alexa, turn on [Routine Name]” is all is takes for Alexa to run one of your Yonomi Routines.

To get started, you need to set up the Yonomi skill in the Alexa app. Once you have enabled the app and signed into your Yonomi account, say “Alexa, discover devices.” If you change a Routine or create a new one, be sure to run discovery again.

Logitech Harmony Ultimate All in One Remote

You can effortlessly integrate all of your Harmony Hub's smart home systems into your Yonomi Routines. Here is one of many Routine possibilities:

Good Morning Routine

  • 6am triggers your good morning Routine, but only if Yonomi detects you are home

  • LIFX bulbs turn on

  • Sonos announces the weather

  • Logitech Harmony Hub turns on the TV to the morning news

  • WeMo Mr. Coffee turns on and gets your morning brew started

Schlage Connect Locks

You can use your Schlage Connect Locks as a trigger for a Routine or as part of one.

As a trigger for a Routine:

Unlocking the door can trigger an Arrive Home Routine to make your house comfortable as you walk inside.

  • LIFX bulbs turn on

  • Nest adjusts the temperature

  • Sonos turns on your favorite channel

As part of a Routine:

When you’re ready to turn in for the night, a Bedtime Routine can lock up the house, turn off the lights and more.

  • Schlage locks the door

  • Nest adjusts the temperature

  • Logitech Harmony Hub turns off the TV

  • All lights are turned off

LIFX Bulbs

The Prime Day deal on LIFX bulbs was a sweet 25% off. LIFX bulbs are designed to last over 22 years and offer over 16 million color options and 1,000 shades of warm to cool whites.

Set up lighting Routines:

When you use LIFX with Yonomi, you can set up Routines to have your lights turn on at sunset, dim at bedtime or even change color when the morning brew is ready.

Integrate your lights into existing Routines:

Have your lights turn on when your Arrive Home Routine is triggered or dim the lights during a Movie Night Routine.

Adding LIFX to Yonomi is simple. We have screenshots of the three-step process in this blog post.

Philips Hue Starter Kit

Similar to LIFX bulbs, Philips Hue bulbs can be integrated into your Yonomi Routines or controlled individually. In addition to some of the ideas we shared above, other popular Routines involving smart light bulbs include:

  • Vacation Routine – have your light bulbs and TV automatically turn on and off at specific times to make your home look lived in while you’re away, and control/adjust the Routine in Yonomi from afar

  • Leave Home Routine – turn off the lights, lock the door and turn off the TV when you leave home

  • Sports Night Routine – celebrate when your favorite team scores a touchdown or a goal by changing the color of the lights to your team’s shade and having Sonos play a celebration song
