There’s no denying that voice assistants are continuing to play a bigger and bigger role in our daily lives. Tasks that we once used our smartphones or computers for can now be done with a simple command to Siri, your Google Assistant, or Alexa.

At Yonomi we couldn’t be more excited about the opportunities that voice assistants provide to make our lives—and our homes—simpler, more comfortable, and more fun.

To help you get the most out of your favorite voice assistants, we’ve designed the new Yonomi 1.7 for iOS to make it as easy as possible to sync your smart home Routines with Alexa, your Google Assistant, and yes—Siri.

The New Voice Assistant Panel

Completely new to Yonomi 1.7 is the Voice Assistant panel. Whether you use the same voice assistant for all of your devices or prefer to use a combination of two or three, we want to make sure the Yonomi experience is consistent every time.

From the Voice Assistant panel, you can quickly redirect to the corresponding setup page for Alexa, your Google Assistant, or Siri Shortcuts.

With any one—or all three—of these voice assistants synced to Yonomi, you can start running your existing Yonomi Routines from anywhere using your preferred voice commands.

Sitting on the couch next to your Amazon Echo Dot? Just say “Alexa, turn on movie mode,” to transform your living room into a movie theater. In the kitchen near your Google Home Hub? Say, “Hey Google, start Dinner Time,” to turn on the perfect cooking music. Lying in bed next to your iPhone XS? Just say, “Hey Siri, run Bedtime Mode,” to lock the doors, turn out the lights, and adjust the thermostat without getting up.

Setting Up Siri Shortcuts

With iOS 12 or later, Yonomi users can finally start using Siri to do all of the amazing things they already do with the Yonomi App. If you’re not able to reach for your phone or access your Apple Watch to start a Yonomi Routine, just have Siri do it.

Here is how to get started with Siri Shortcuts and Yonomi:

  • Go to the Settings screen in your Yonomi App

  • Click on Voice Assistants > Siri Shortcuts to be taken to your iPhone’s settings

  • From this screen, click Siri & Search

  • Next, from the Siri & Search screen click on Shortcuts

  • Click the ‘+’ symbol next to any Yonomi Routine you want to add to Siri Shortcuts and record the voice command you would like to use to trigger the Yonomi Routine (e.g. “Run Bedtime Mode”).

You can also add Yonomi Routines to Siri Shortcuts directly from the Routine Preferences screen. Just open an existing Routine and tap the gear icon in the bottom right of the Routine details screen.

The Same Experience For Every Voice Assistant

With Yonomi 1.7 for iOS, we are taking another big step forward in our mission to connect all your favorite smart home services and devices and bring your home to life.

Whether you prefer Siri, the Google Assistant, Alexa, or like us a combination of all three, the Yonomi experience will always be the same—your smart home Routines just work. No need to sync your devices and accounts to multiple apps. No need to set up your favorite Routines again and again.

Yonomi just makes it all run as it should in the background.
